China Mobile Demo 4G LTE TDD Phone
Mobile operator China Mobile and telecommunications equipment supplier ZTE showed this week a smartphone operating on a 4G (fourth generation) LTE TDD network.
China has been holding large-scale trials using LTE TDD technology in a bid to move the country to faster 4G networks. The trials are expected to last until the end of 2012.
The smartphone, which was demonstrated during the Universiade sporting event in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, is a multi-mode phone that operates on the LTE TDD (Long-Term Evolution Time-Division Duplex) standard, as well as China Mobile’s 3G TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) network standard, according to a statement from ZTE.
It also features a 3.5 inch touch screen and uses the Android 2.3 operating system. Continue Reading »
